SEMI is a leading global industry association for the microelectronics and semiconductor supply chain, connecting over 2,400 members and 1.3 million professionals. With a crucial multilingual and multi-regional digital presence, SEMI needed a trusted partner to maintain, modernize, and enhance its platform. We helped them build a scalable Digital Experience Platform (DXP) tailored to evolving user expectations and internal team needs.

The Goal

SEMI wanted a personalized user experience with enhanced content management workflows. Their expectations included improved usability and site performance to go along with an improved SEO and analytics roadmap. The ultimate goal was to track and optimize their user behavior, conversions, and engagement while also ensuring compliance with GDPR.

The Challenge: A high-traffic website struggling with outdated structure, scattered analytics, and irrelevant traffic

  • The site lacked personalization, performance optimization, and reliable analytics. Their global audience needed a customized experience, but the site served the same content to all users, whether logged in or not. They wanted us to bring contextual relevance to each user interaction.
  • The homepage, event pages, and navigation structure needed a full redesign to make the site more intuitive and engaging for members and stakeholders across different regions. SEMI’s internal teams also needed better tools to create content and roll out updates faster.
  • On the analytics front, SEMI had limited visibility into user behavior. Their Universal Analytics setup was disorganized across regions and languages, and they were struggling to track meaningful user engagement or conversions. Additionally, irrelevant and adult-related keyword traffic was inflating bounce rates and polluting reports, making it hard to trust the data-informed decisions.

The Approach: A Unified Strategy to Modernize UX, Automate Insights, and Enhance SEO

  • We began by redesigning SEMI’s homepage, events section, and overall site navigation. Our design team implemented a fresh structure backed by over 150 reusable Drupal components to build and update pages independently with speed and consistency.
  • To create a more relevant and engaging experience, we implemented login-based (SSO - Single Sign On) personalization and pulled user-specific data from Salesforce to dynamically display content based on region, role, and interests.
  • We connected Shopify to the ecosystem to deliver tailored product experiences based on user context.
  • On the analytics front, we migrated SEMI from a fragmented Universal Analytics setup to GA4 to bring clarity and consistency across their multilingual, multi-regional ecosystem. The new structure allows precise tracking by region and language, enabling better segmentation and insights. 
  • We also integrated Google Tag Manager to streamline custom event tracking and make future updates more scalable.
  • To support data-driven decisions, we created multiple LookerStudio dashboards to consolidate critical SEO and user behavior metrics in real time. Further, we enhanced visibility into user journeys by leveraging Crazy Egg for heatmaps and scroll behavior to optimize content that truly resonates.
  • And finally, we worked on cleaning up the traffic quality by identifying and removing more than 1,000 unwanted adult-related keywords and outdated pages.

The Results
